Tween Summit Day

The day of the Tween summit was a knowledgeable and an experience filled day. I met a lot of new people. There was some great quotes given by everybody and I'm writing this so everybody that reads this can hear the knowledge of teens and tweens (which are 8-12 year old's). One of my favorite quotes was said by 18 yr old Pat from New England, he was speaking and he said that the Internet was kind of like the Garden of Eden, because there are many plentiful apples out there but on the other hand there are many serpents trying to tempt you to do bad things. One of the most talked about topics that was shared at the summit was cyber bullying. It turns out that a lot of kids are cyber bullied, there was one boy there 18 yr old Justin from Arkansas/Kansas. He said he too was cyber bullied and it was terrible. He had a networking page and there was a truth box that he had on his page. One day he got a message from the truth box and it was saying terrible things about him, and he didn't know who was writing this because the person was incognito. He said it was a very painful experience and he did not wish it on anyone, because he was scared from it. There was also a 10 yr old boy Devante who had encountered somebody that was talking to him on his game account where he played games, and the child was saying he was going to beat him up and Devante said he was not afraid, because he just deleted the account and did not play games there anymore. There are many things that are terriable out on the internet and one of the topics that we talked about was that parents should talk to their kids about the internet and make it a conversation and not an interigation, because then if you yell at them for something then they are more apt. to hideing things from you. I got a lot out of the summit and hope to share it with many other people and fellow students at my new high school, because I hear things on the internet and I would hate that to happen to somebody that is one of my good friends.
I hope anyone that reads this really takes this under consideration?!?!?!?!?!?!

We are so proud of you Krystina! Cox could not be bringing a more important subject to peoples awareness and have a better tween representative to do it! Keep up the great work.
